Monel K500 (N05500)

General Properties

Monel K500 is a nickel-copper alloy with the same corrosion resistance and characteristics as the Monel 400. Due to added aluminum and titanium the nickel alloy Monel K-500 has a greater strength and hardness than the Monel 400. In age-hardened condition, Monel K-500 also has greater tendency toward stress- corrosion cracking in some environments.

Typical applications for Monel K500 are pump shafts, impellers, propeller shafts, valve components for ships and offshore drilling towers, bolting, oil well drill collars and instrumentation components for oil and gas production. It is particularly well suited for centrifugal pumps in the marine industry because of its high strength and low corrosion rates in high-velocity seawater.
